Special thanks to our MLK Day of Service volunteers for being part of a team that did restorative work for the Verde River all across the valley. Every site was a success and the work accomplished exceeded all of Friends and our partners expectations! Fifty four volunteers came out on MLK Day of Service, January 17, 2021, to donate over 130 hours of their time!![]() Here’s some of what they accomplished: – 13 volunteers helped to clear half a mile of trail after flooding at Dead Horse Ranch State Park – 17 volunteers cleared the invasive Tree of Heaven, cleared trail, and picked up 100lbs of trash at Tuzigoot RAP – 13 volunteers planting 140 willow poles, and cleaned up 100 lbs of trash at the Clear Creek RAP5 volunteers showed up at Dry Creek even though it was canceled and did their own clean up of the area! – 6 volunteers signed up to go out and do trash pickup throughout the community! ![]() Friends of the Verde River (Friends) envisions a healthy, flowing Verde River and tributaries that support our natural environment, vibrant communities, and quality of life for future generations.
