Maya Rappaport joins Friends after working as a riparian bird biologist in Maine, New Hampshire, Utah, Colorado, and Montana. She studied ecology and wildlife biology as an undergraduate at College of the Atlantic in Maine. She is currently a master’s student at NAU, studying science communication and sustainable communities. Maya coordinates the Flagstaff Kestrel Project, a new initiative in community-based conservation focused on creating nesting habitat for the threatened American Kestrel. Maya is thrilled to join Friends once again after working on the Verde Watershed Report Card in summer ’19 as a research intern. She brings her expertise in communications, visual art, event coordination, and community engagement to Friends as the Communications Coordinator. Maya lives in Flagstaff, where she moonlights as a musician and music director.
